Resolving to Have More Fun
It was a simple resolution,
as resolutions go: Start doing wine & food pairings
with a local chef, featuring the wines we love, paired
with delicious nibbles. I could call it ‘Tuesday’s
with Angela: An Organoleptic Adventure through Food
& Wine.’
It wasn’t the resolution
of years passed, to lose weight, quit something, to
begin an impossible task…It was filled with
merriment, sharing, drinking & eating! I felt
it highly probable that this would be, finally, the
one resolution I could keep.
And so, I am thrilled to report,
we are coming upon our third Kirby Wines ‘Wine
& Small Plates’ tastings at Jarrett’s
Restaurant, starring Chef Rick Farmer and His Magic
Kitchen. Chef Farmer was recently voted Memphis’
Top Chef by Memphis Magazine. I have been a long time
fan of his; he and his supporting kitchen staff turn
out the freshest, most genuinely scrumptious food
around.
What a success!! Foodies and
oenophiles alike are gathering for an exciting evening
of surprises, and so far we have been packed to full
capacity! The atmosphere was electric on both occasions.
The varying small plates, from the Smoked Trout Ravioli
with American Sturgeon Caviar, to the Burgundian style
Braised Short Ribs of Beef with Whole Grain Mustard
Glace, were Absolutely Fabulous! Each of the courses
is paired with 2 wines, so conversation quickly filled
the room, buzzing, energetic, enthusiastic opinions
of what goes best, and why. (Upcoming e-articles to
include a breakdown of ingredients and resulting wine
choices, with commentary on matches and misses).
